SCADA Engineer at Region Gotland

In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all walks of life. We make each other better.

Project and Development Unit

Water is our most important food source, and a secure water supply is crucial for Gotland's future.

Within the VA and waste department, we work every day to ensure a safe and sustainable water supply for Gotland's VA collective.

We are responsible for the development, renewal, and operation of facilities such as water sources, waterworks, sewage treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, landfills, and recycling centers. In total, we are about 130 employees working together for Gotland's sustainable development.

We are now looking for a SCADA engineer for the Project and Development Unit (PUV) based in Visby. The unit is responsible for planning and designing both new facilities and the renewal of waterworks, sewage treatment plants, pump stations, and pressure boosting stations. We also drive projects that form the basis for strategic decisions in Region Gotland's current and future water supply.

The assignment also includes work related to Gotland's water sources, such as water protection areas and permitting processes for water extraction. The unit is also responsible for the development and expansion of control, regulation, and monitoring systems within the VA operations.

With us, you will work in an organization with high competence, great commitment, and a culture where collaboration and responsibility are in focus. We offer meaningful work where you contribute to essential infrastructure. As an employee, you will also receive benefits such as wellness hours, wellness grants, and flexible working hours.

Your Responsibilities

As a SCADA engineer, you will be responsible for the development, management, and optimization of our overarching control systems. The role combines technical specialist work with strategic development of the systems' architecture and functionality.

You will develop and configure the SCADA system's structure, process images, alarm management, trends, and reports, as well as work on standardizing functions and working methods. The work also includes integration with PLCs, RTUs, databases, and external systems, as well as communication solutions and network protocols.

You contribute to high operational reliability through robust design, redundancy, and work with cybersecurity. The role also includes testing, commissioning, upgrades, and troubleshooting during operational disturbances. You will produce technical guidelines and documentation and participate in the long-term development of the control environment.

The work is carried out in close collaboration with VA engineers, IT specialists, operations organizations, and external suppliers.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone with an academic engineering degree or equivalent in automation, electrical engineering, or a similar field, as well as experience with SCADA systems and system integration. A driver's license (B) is required, and you must be proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written.

It is advantageous if you have knowledge of PLC programming, communication protocols, and processes from VA operations or process industry. Experience in cybersecurity within critical infrastructure is also valuable.

As a person, you are structured, analytical, and responsible. You work methodically with quality, testing, and documentation and have a strong focus on operational reliability and long-term solutions. You collaborate well and communicate clearly with both technical specialists and the business.

Selection and interviews may begin before the application deadline.
